Kathryn "Kat" Louise Fanelli
Ms. Virginia Senior America 2012

Kathryn FanelliA resident of Annandale, Kat operates LA Express, an entertainment company co-owned with her husband, Sebastian. The company performs in a wide variety of venues and is noted for its volunteer activity in senior communities. While in her 20s, Kat operated a boutique craft shop in Old Town, Alexandria, featuring many of her own creations. Except to attend New Mexico State University to major in art and study Spanish, she is a life-long Virginia resident and can claim Commonwealth ancestors dating to the American Revolution.

Kat was an active "tomboy" and continues to enjoy an active lifestyle today. Her life is filled with many challenging activities. She enjoys hooping, trampoline (backyard) and competitive running and dance. She has completed several half-marathons; a full marathon (26 miles) at age 61; and recently, a second full marathon at age 62. She plans to continue competition running.

Kat volunteers at Arlington and Fairfax, Virginia, senior centers bringing her commitment to fitness and active life-style at any age to her seniors’ dance classes. She coached, and danced with, the winning dance team at the 2010 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics. She was first runner-up in the Ms. Virginia Senior America 2011 pageant and as a member of the Cameo Jewels joins their many performances in senior centers across Virginia.

While at home Kat enjoys spending time with her newest friend-a rescued Macaw named Rosco. However, were you to ask Kat what were the most fulfilling of her many career and life interests-without hesitation she would choose that of wife and mother and the raising of three talented and athletic children to whom she attributes both her inspiration and her insanity.
